Treating nail, scalp and palmoplantar psoriasis

Nail, scalp, and palmoplantar psoriasis. These are three conditions that are vexing
to our patients and vexing to ourselves in order to find good therapies for them. We now have a lot more data on what kind of
effect we can expect from drugs in these conditions. More recently, not only do we have data that’s
kind of pulled from Phase 3 trials, but we now have trials that are dedicated to looking
at each of these conditions. These trials are taking that particular kind
of patient that we see—patient with severe scalp or severe palmoplantar or severe nail
disease—and seeing how these drugs work in these patients. Lately we’ve seen some of the new agents,
like the IL-17 agents, having specific trials in nails, in scalp, and in palmoplantar, and
showing that these drugs can be effective in treating these conditions.
