Shoulder Pain | shoulder pain physical therapy, steroids equal

Which works better for shoulder pain, physical
therapy or steroid injections. The answer will surprise you.
Physical Therapy, Steroid Injections Equally Effective for Shoulder Pain.
Kathryn Doyle writing for Reuters reported on the findings of a study published in the
Annals of Internal Medicine suggesting that both physical therapy and steroid injections
are equally effective in addressing shoulder pain endured by those with shoulder impingement
syndrome. The lead author of the study, Daniel I. Rhon, a physical therapist at the Center
for the Intrepid at Brooke Army Medical Center, told Reuters via email, “There is a strong
consensus that exercises can help, and patients may also get a referral to physical therapy
for this condition…Because of the pain and inflammation that is sometimes present with
shoulder impingement, corticosteroid injections are also a very common treatment used by general
practitioners, orthopedists, and rheumatologists.” Comment: Surprise, surprise.
