Psoriasis and Your Wedding Day

Psoriasis and Your Wedding Day

Hi, I’m Linzi from NewLifeOutlook Psoriasis. In this video, I’m going to be talking to you about psoriasis and your wedding day. I recently just got married. It was a wonderful day; it was absolutely brilliant. And psoriasis was on my mind, but thankfully it wasn’t on my skin. In the run up to my big day, I was very conscious of keeping all my GP appointments and my dermatologist appointments. They were very aware of my wedding date and I reminded them all the time. And I actually asked for a special appointment to be about four weeks before my wedding, so that there was time, if I was to flare-up, that we’d time to put a new treatment in place and then for that to take effect. So making sure that your dermatologist is aware of your timescale and your hopes and your expectations for your skin, might make you feel better that you’ve got someone on your side helping. Common sense one, but diet and exercise, looking after yourself from the inside will definitely help what you look like on the outside. I religiously exercised three times a week. I even had a personal trainer in the run up to the wedding. It helped me feel better. I certainly noticed a difference. After the wedding, I’ve not been so strict. When it comes to clothes on the day, guys, you’ve got it easy. You’re probably covered up from head to toe in your suit, or if you’re in Scotland, your kilt. Brides, unfortunately, it’s a little bit more tricky for us. Make sure at your initial consultation, when picking your dress that you make the person helping you choose, aware of your fears, aware of any parts of your body you don’t want to show, any parts of your body you do want to show and then take it from there. Material is a really big factor in what you’ll choose to wear, especially the lining on the inside of the dress, the lining and material that’s closest to your skin, and try to avoid any embellishments or anything that’s going to be overly itchy on your skin. Just keep that in mind when picking your dream dress. So whether you are engaged and you’re planning your big day, or you’re just planning towards the future, I hope some of these tips have helped you to feel more confident and more comfortable about enjoying your wedding day. I’ve been Linzi. Make sure you leave your comments and let us know your thoughts at NewLifeOutlook. (upbeat music)
