This is Jarreth. He fell in love with Dalreece. Since becoming a couple they have been subjected to mounting judgment about their choice of partner. Dalreece: Why is your husband so thin and you so fat? Due to assumptions many have said that Jarreth had ulterior motives for dating Dalreece. Jarreth: Or assumptions says that I have a fat fetish or that I am a chubby chaser. And Dalreece is judged for her size. Dalreece: I have been fat shamed. Jarreth: You’re going to have tomatoes or the …? Dalreece:No.
Jarreth: No. Dalreece: We’ve been together for about … Jarreth: Three years.
Dalreece: Just over three years. Jarreth: We met on Tinder.
Dalreece: Yeah. Jarreth: One thing led to another and …
Dalreece: Yeah we started dating. Jarreth: Started dating.
Dalreece: We got married two years after we met. He’s more reserved I think so yeah. Jarreth: Every situation dictate I guess. Dalreece: Hi Mister. I love you.
Jarreth: I love you too. Dalreece and Jarreth, have found harmony in they’re opposing personalities. But other people have been less complimentary of their differences. Dalreece: Why is your husband so thin and you so fat? And stuff like that. Jarreth: Assumption that people would ask me? Dalreece: Yeah.
Jarreth: Why am I … why did I chose you?
Dalreece: I think that in society, there’s just like a norm and stereotype that people of same weight are supposed to be in a relationship. The couple have found that being in a mixed weight relationship has put their choice of partner under scrutiny. And out in public, they receive judgment. Jarreth: A lot of the times I do hear people commenting on the sly or saying something about Dalreece with me or in public. I internalize it. I just tend to get upset and then I would, I would want us to leave because it becomes upsetting. Jarreth’s choice in partner has even brought him in the firing line for having ulterior motives for dating Dalreece. Jarreth: Or assumptions people might have is that I have a fat fetish or that I am a chubby chaser
Dalreece: Or that you’re a feeder. Jarreth: I see Dalreece as a Person.
Dalreece: Person yeah. Jarreth: And not a fat person.
Dalreece: Just a normal. Growing up Dalreece often hid her figure online because of her insecurities and fear of getting judged for her size. Dalreece: I have been fat shamed on Instagram. I think there’s a lot of stigma with being overweight. I was always self conscious and really want to post full body pics and things like that. But after we met I think I became a lot less self conscious. But since meeting Jarreth, he’s given her the confidence to reveal her whole self. Jarreth: Dalreese was not into taking photos, Dalreece: Especially full frame.
Jarreth: Especially anything full frame, anything below the, the chest area. Always have to get a good side.
Dalreece: Yeah. Jarreth: But as time went on, she’s having to Dalreece: Open up.
Jarreth: Open up and becoming comfortable with her own body. Since starting to post photos of herself and her relationship online, Dalreece has started to build up a following and hope to support other women going through similar experiences. Dalreece: On Instagram I’ve had lately good responses. I’m not really doing it to be inspiring. I’m just sharing my own story. There is a very big plus size movement at the moment and I’m all for it. For Jarreth and Dalreece their size has never been a factor in their relationship. They just want to show that love exists in all different forms. Jarreth: Society thinking is just skewed. It’s not all about aesthetics.
Dalreece: It’s not all about aesthetics. Jarreth: It’s what’s inside that matters.
Dalreece: Yeah. She’s my wife and she’s the person that I love, the person that I’m spending my life with. That’s what she is to me. If that person makes you happy and,
Dalreece: You’ve won already. Jarreth: You’ve won.
Dalreece: You’ve won already if if you are happy, I feel like I’ve won.
