Rheumatoid arthritis, or RA, can be treated
with a variety of medications, depending on what works best for a patient. Sometimes,
however, effective medications come with unwanted side effects. I’m Shelby Cullinan for the
dailyRx News Network. A research group recently studied secukinumab,
an injectable antibody made by Novartis Pharmaceutical, to determine its effectiveness and safety
for long-term use. These researchers found the medication to be effective, but more than
half the patients experienced mild to moderate side effects. This medication has yet to be
approved by US regulators for use in patients. Discuss treatment options with your doctor.
