[How does delousing chemicals from fish farms affect non-target species?] [Austevoll research station] We are here because we are exposing juvenile lobster to teflubenzuron. Which is an in-feed drug that is given to salmon to treat them agaist sea lice. We are looking at very low concentrations. We put them in these lanes. And we film them. We want to see if there is an effect on their capacity to move. Because teflubenzuron makes their limbs stiff. And eventually leads to death while moulting. You are not that interested in the dying lobsters now? No… Since teflubenzuron is an in-feed treatment. We give it to the lobsters over a long period of three months. We want to see at what point during that time we start seing an effect on their mobility. Then their ability to reach shelter is compromised. And their survival is compromised being an easier target for predators like wrasse species or other fish.
