Jennifer Powers, MD

– My name is Jennifer Powers
and I’m a dermatologist. A dermatologist is a doctor who diagnoses and
treats diseases of the skin. We treat everything from warts
and acne to drug eruptions, to medical condition
like lupus and psoriasis. I do specialize in treating
patience with significant moles. They’re called atypical nevi patients, as well as those with
a significant history of melanoma, which is the
deadliest skin cancer. I also have an interest in chronic wounds, so I see patients with issues
related to wound healing, whether it’s been three weeks or whether it’s been three years. And I also do a small amount
of cosmetic dermatology in my practice. It never hurts to bring
with you any medications, products that you are using on your skin. I’ve had patients bring entire bagfuls and that is okay. When it comes to dermatology, there are things people use
that range from prescription medications to things that
you have at your house. And so we are always
curious to learn about what is out there and what
our patients are using. I just love getting to know people, so I ask them questions about
their kids and their pets. And I love hearing where people
are traveling on vacation. When you add that personal piece, it’s what I get up to
go to work everyday for.
