Hyper Hydrosis

Hyper Hydrosis

Welcome to Atlantic Dermatology, located in
Wilmington, North Carolina. I’m Dr. Crane. I am a board certified dermatologist and I’m
here to educate you on hyper hydrosis, or excess of sweating. Many patients have a difficult
time with excess of sweating and it probably affects about one to two percent of our population
in a real significant manner. could you imagine sweating so bad from your hands that its soaking
paper as you go to write on it. or if your a police officer and your going to pick up
a gun and your worried about dropping it because your hands are sweating so much. So these
could really be significant problems for patients. The good news is that there are many treatments
out there for Hyper Hydrosis, or excessive sweating. One is a pill by mouth called Robinul
and Robinul you can take either once of twice a day and help slow down the sweating throughout
your entire body. so theres a pill by mouth for it. Number two: Drysol 20%. Drysol is
an aluminum chloride solution and basically you can put it underneath your underarms every
night or every other night and it helps clog up the sweat glands and slow them down from
producing sweat. If that still doesn’t work, Botox injections, the same Botox that helps
with the forehead lines and wrinkles, it often helps with sweating and it can do real miracles.
Basically with the Botox we will inject it underneath the under arms every three months
to sometimes every year and a half even and Botox basically helps affect the way nerves
stimulate sweating and by blocking these impulses, all of a sudden the sweat glands aren’t sweating
as much. So we have multiple treatment options for Hyper Hydrosis, if your a patient thats
having a tough time with Hyper Hydrosis then see your dermatologist.
