How to Naturally Balance Your Hormones with Essential Oils

How to Naturally Balance Your Hormones with Essential Oils

Hey guys, Dr. Axe here. I want to share with
you how essential oils can help naturally balance out your hormones, and in this video
I’ll talk about the specific oils that can benefit progesterone balance, estrogen balance,
help improve thyroid issues, and also for men help naturally boost low testosterone.
There are three main essential that we’re going to benefit from learning here — clary
sage, thyme oil, and sandalwood oil. Clary sage, its biggest benefit is that it
helps balance out estrogen production in the body. We know that a lot of health issues
today, even things like infertility, PCOS, estrogen-based cancers are caused from excess
estrogen in the body. So we know that clary sage helps balance out those estrogen levels,
and that’s why it’s such an effective essential oil in the treatment of hormone conditions.
So whether you’re struggling with PMS during the month or possibly you know you have excess
estrogen in the body, clary sage is a great essential oil to consider to adding in your
essential oil regime. The next oil is thyme essential oil, and thyme
oil helps benefit the body by improving progesterone production. We know both men and definitely
a lot of women are low in progesterone, and low progesterone levels have been linked with
infertility, they have been linked with PCOS, they’ve been linked with depression as well
as other imbalanced hormones within the body. So thyme essential oil is the next essential
oil you can use to naturally balance out hormones in your body. Then sandalwood oil is very, very effective
at balancing out testosterone levels both in men and women. Sandalwood has actually
also been used as a natural aphrodisiac and been used in men’s cologne for years as well
as certain feminine perfumes. It really just has an amazing, amazing scent to it. But if
you’re a male with low testosterone, adding a few drops of sandalwood oil into your homemade
deodorant or your own homemade lotion is a great thing to do. That’s one of my favorite
ways to get essential oils is simply take some coconut oil with the oil itself and rub
it on different areas of your body. And because essentials oils are so small, so small molecularly,
they actually can get from your skin into your body and you can get full body effects
simply by putting essential oils directly on the skin. A few other essential oils that we know do
balance and support hormone health in the body. We know rose oil does. Rose oil has
been used also as an aphrodisiac and as a natural mood lifter. It’s been shown to help
in improving serotonin and other neuropeptides in the brain, sort of those good mood hormones.
So rose oil is effective for that. We’ve also found that lavender oil and chamomile
oil are effective at reducing stress, which can naturally lower cortisol levels which
is very, very important to the body as well when it’s trying to overcome disease. In general,
some of the best essential oils for thyroid function and autoimmune issues can be things
like frankincense oil. We know frankincense oil reduces inflammation which can also help
those cortisol levels. So again, if you want to personally have more
balanced hormones, I recommend considering clary sage oil along with thyme oil and then
sandalwood oil specifically for men. You can just put a few drops on your hand and rub
it on your skin or combine them with some of your own personal care products. Hey guys. This has been Dr. Axe talking about
essential oils for hormones. If you enjoyed this video on essential oils, make sure you
get my free e-book on DrAxe.com, it’s called “The King’s Medicine Cabinet.” It’s your guide,
full guide, it’s a $25 value. It’s a free full-access guide to essential oils. Hey guys, this has been Dr. Axe. Thanks for

Maybe you should stick to Chiropractic Medicine.  It is videos like this that are insanely misleading and dangerous.  ANYONE that has issues with hormone levels, need to consider there is a  thyroid, problem and nee a full blood work up before running off and just throwing on some Essential oils and thinking these problems will work themselves out. Low hormone levels can cause a host of very serious health issues and need to be addressed by a medical Dr. Essential oils are wonderful, and I use them daily,  but they can not fix the underlying conditions of a wayward thyroid.

I have used Ashwagandha, added B vitamin complex and change my diet to an almost vegan diet, all organic as well. What are your thoughts on chaste tree? What are your thoughts as to a daily routine with herbs/oils?

Thank you for sharing. However I do wonder what your thoughts are on the estrogenic properties of lavendar and geranium oil among many others. In a world where estrogen is running rampant and causing so many problems I must question these properties within these oils. Some studies have found lavendar to increase breast tissue in males. Could this also mean it would be a problem for those battling breast cancers etc.?

  • Genalyn Ada says:

Hi doc. I have a hyperthyroid… It is ok to take that supplement? I am from Philippines

  • shakti veda says:

Hi Dr. Axe, I have yet to check out your book, though I do like your videos. When I first begun to play with essential oils, years ago, I wasn't quite sure what I was doing, but I allowed my intuition and nose to guide me through and I begun using all these essential oils that you have mentioned and then some others too, soon enough I begun to notice a change of mood and health improvements in many areas, they have been working well for me as long as I avoid synthetics, only natural essential oils are the real "go to," at least in my opinion. I always test my combinations first. Thank you.

  • Freedom USA says:

Sorry Doc, I like you but you're going to make your wife miserable! Any woman can test out your theory by consuming phytoestrogen and if their symptoms peak (menopause will get instant hot flashes, weight gain, etc) then they know you're off track here. The problem is, is that men keep beating this tired drum, their poor wife keeps gaining weight and being miserable and people like you keep saying just eat more phytoestrogens. It's a vicious circle that needs to end! Women are much, much different than men!

  • Living In Christ says:

In another video he mentions Clary Sage Oil for woman along with sandalwood and thyme for men and woman. I'm wondering as a man could the clary sage also benefit me along with sandalwood and thyme?..like a couple drops of each mixed with some coconut oil and rub into bottom of feet and wrists? I'm looking for something to boost my testosterone naturally. I already use the herb tribulus but test show my levels are still in the lower range although increased from where I was naturally just still not high enough though. If anybody who knows has advice on this it would be greatly appreciated. Also I cannot have anything that adds extra minerals like calcium , magnesium etc. Thanks

  • Christine Weidanz says:
