Gaining Healthy Weight…when nothing else seems to work.


good morning its Loren Lockman from the Tanglewood Wellness Center in Costa Rica you know we talk a lot fasting people he often people have have much way to lose we and we live in a culture today where roughly seventy plus percent or overweight or obese but there are people who are underweight and people who are underweight are often wondering what can they do most of them would never think about fasting because they don’t want to lose more weight but the interesting thing is you know if if someone is eating an optimal diet getting enough calories and doing physical activity that that should allow them to build muscle but are not able to do that that usually happens because they’re not assimilating very well okay so and it could be you know again assimilation is the last step in the process of getting food from our mouth into our cells one of the last steps so it could be that they’re not digesting it well it could be that they’re not absorbing it for whatever reason and it could be that they’re not assimilating it but somewhere along the way the nutrition that they’re consuming isn’t getting into their cells it could be because they’ve got parasites it could be because they’ve got systemic yeast infection which is getting the benefit of most of what they’re eating but in any case it’s not working so anytime there’s a breakdown in the process for whatever reason whether it’s a parasite or whether it’s because the system is so toxic and overloaded that’s no longer working properly the most effective thing those people can do to gain weight is actually to fast and cleanse their body and again it seems counterintuitive to most people but it works and so you know it’s if if you’re in that situation or you know somebody who is it’s something to think about now there are concerns with people who in order to fast you have to have reserves right so those people who because of anorexia or AIDS or advanced cancer whatever it might be that literally don’t have any body fat can’t fast and most people have some but someone who anorexic for instance someone who is literally starving now now that they’re there they’ve already consumed all their fat except for the 2% they need to be alive two and a half percent they’ve consumed much of their muscle if someone with anorexia or someone in that condition doesn’t eat they’re not fasting they’re starving okay the difference between fasting and starving is that when you’re fasting your body is living on its reserves when there are no reserves left you are starving and starving is never beneficial okay so someone in that situation they can’t fast but anybody who’s got reserves and you know people who are very very lean off and still have some reserves most people do they may not realize it you can safely fast if you’re doing it properly and have supervision someone who actually knows what’s okay and what’s not you can get down pretty low much lower than most people would would find attractive or reasonable too to look you know it’s not dangerous and if you think about that for a second think about the people who survived concentration camps you’ve seen photos and probably video of people film of people walking out of concentration camps literally looking like walking skeletons I’m not encouraging anyone to get to that point again these people were starving but the point is you can fast until most of your fat is gone and you look pretty scary and still be safe if you know what you’re doing and have proper supervision and well while most people would never want to do that there are people that need to cleanse and heal and because it’s the most effective way I have taken a number of people through the process to that point including many who were very very lean or underweight when they started so it can be a very powerful tool of course the key is you have to you have to be clear and remain open to what’s going on i I’m reminded of a kind of a funny story I met someone years ago who was 6 to 125 pounds roughly a guy okay and again I’m 6 feet tall 145 and most people think I look pretty thin imagine 20 pounds less weight and two inches taller that’s a very very skinny man and he was he was a very nice guy we met and we we went out for dinner one night to a place that served these big salads and I ate a big salad and he ate two and that half of his wife’s meal and I’m thinking you know where’s this guy putting all this food right and what was going on was that he was forcing all this food into his body I mean remember he was much smaller than me lighter than me how could he possibly that much he was forcing the food in trying to gain weight but that’s that’s kind of akin to jamming your fireplace every little crack and crevice full of wood so you can get more fire does that work no nothing burns because you need oxygen to right if you jam your system full of food it’s not going to be able to digest anything very efficiently you wind up bogging and by the way there are a lot of people out there doing this they’re consuming way too much food and they’re actually impairing their body’s functioning as a result of that so less is more but I couldn’t convince this guy it took me two or three years to convince him to fast you know I kept telling him look man you know you’re not assimilating very well there’s something going on here if we give your body a chance to cleanse and heal we can change that I finally convinced him to fast but on the first day of his fast he had three large bowel movements now all of you here how many of you had three large bowel movements the first day you’re if you’re fasting nobody most people might have one you know maybe two but most people aren’t gonna have three large problems the first day on the second day of fasting he had three large bowel movements on the third day he had three large bowel movements on the fourth day he had three large bowel movements on the fifth day he had three large bowel movements and then he came to me and said I want to break my fast and I said to him why would you do that he said I’m losing too much weight I said well yeah it’s mostly crap you’re mostly losing old fecal matter would you rather keep that in your body right but he broke his fast I cut you know he was just looking at the numbers on the scale doesn’t make sense in this of course this is years ago way before we had bioimpedance analysis where I could say to him look you you haven’t lost muscle mass you’re not you’re not losing any valuable tissue what you’re losing is a bunch of old waste right I mean but some people are hard to get the point you know the this is this is a great example by the way of someone who is attached to an idea one of the ideas he might have been attached to us I don’t want to weigh less than X even though it’s not your body weight that we’re losing right it’s it’s the stuff we’re flushing down the toilet but anyway so just keep that in mind in a situation where someone is underweight fasting properly and long enough with with appropriate supervision can be a very powerful tool because it can eliminate the reason that the body is not able to assimilate whether again whether it’s systemic congestion or problem with the system or it’s simply the presence of a yeast or a worm or something else that’s actually consuming what we’re eating before we get gets into our body it doesn’t matter either way fasting will take care of that issue so I hope that that helps and I’ll see you next time

    Loren…fantastic video once again. You make these topics simple for anyone to understand if they would just detach themselves from their beliefs. Can't believe that friend of yours ended his fast after 5 days and all those BM's. I guess he wasn't a student of Natural Hygiene. Is he still in the same state today?

    Hi Jocker, thanks for your comments. A 28-day stay at Tanglewood (which includes 21 days fasting and 7 days re-feeding) runs US$2995. We have very little space left for the December 7 session though, so you may want to reserve your space while you can. Namaste, Loren

    Hi Sean, Though I did a lot of juice-feasting more than 20 yrs ago, I would never recommend it now. Juices are fragmented, unnatural substances which force the body to work hard to outprocess the massive concentration of mostly-oxidized nutrients. For those who don't have any reserves or can't create the time off to fast, I recommend a diet of high H2O content fruit only. But most folks — even very leans ones — can usually fast 3-6 weeks if done properly.

    Hi Alvaro, I know of no chart which shows how much weight one can lose while fasting, but if fasting properly and resting as completely as possible, most could go as low as 60% of their ideal weight.

    Wow! I thought it was more expensive than that. I could probably manage 3k to enjoy 28 days in costa rica. Do u have a family rate? My wife, my son who is currently 10 yr and me! Are there expenses other than the 3k? Also, i was thinking of doing a urine fast. just read "water of live". Do u have any thoughts, opinions, advice, and info good or bad about urine fasting? Thanks in advance! love your videos.

    HI Tim! Because we're very small and are usually full, we don't generally offer special rates…but could do a small break. There are no other expenses once you arrive at the center, with the exception of for optional massages/reiki, other treatments. I'm aware of the literature on urine fasting, but am clear that urine is a waste product intended to be eliminated, not consumed. Because I base everything on understanding/applying the laws of nature, I don't recommend and wouldn't drink urine.

    Hi Loren, I'm 21 years old, i was raw vegan one year and today my weight is about 110lbs. I was lean before raw diet, but not so lean as i am now. I was never made fasting before. Could you tell me what kind of fasting would be beneficial for me. I am also eating much food (fruits and Leafy vegetables) because i want gain weight but it does not work, it just stays on 110lbs. What fasting should i do? Thanks.

    Hi Leonid, you may have trouble assimilating as I discussed in the video & water fasting is optimal. But Do Not attempt a fast without experienced supervision as for both your safety and success you need to be sure that you know exactly what you're doing. You may want to contact me to schedule a consultation, and if possible, consider coming to Tanglewood for a month or more.

    I'm surprised you didn't mention the biggest selling point of fasts for the chronically underweight big eaters, which is that it gives their entire digestive/intestinal tract what it needs the most, a break from being overworked. The fast allows the stomach and intestines time to finally shut down and rest for a while. Although in this guy's case it afforded them the energy to finally expel some junk.

    One thing nobody ever thinks about to cure general constipation is sleep, sleep and more sleep. An extra 2-3 hours of sleep for a few days can really kick start the intestines.

    Hi loren, i'm underweight and i've done 9 days water only fast to remove garbage and gaining weight. But after refeeding still am not gaining weight. What could be the reason ?
