FASTING – A SPIRITUAL NUCLEAR WARHEAD WEAPON! By: Norm Rasmussen

Hello i’m norm Rasmussen from the precious testimonies Outreach Ministry When you’ve done all Consider Fasting It’s The title reads When you’ve done all to get It breakthrough from God Seriously Consider Faster i Just want to exhort You a Little bit to seek god about this topic i’m not going to Spend any time giving You scripture bible scripture for Fastening There’s Not a Whole Lot Said about fastening Jesus Says that when you fast Don’t make a Big display of It and Your Heavenly father will openly Reward you That’s about all it’s Said there are incidentals Spoken of in the new testament about fasting but Fasting I have Grown to? Firmly Believe Is an option That god gives each of us it’s not a commandment can’t Find it the old testament for People to apply Today and The new covenant a New testament it’s not a command anybody tells you it’s a Command They’re not Rightly dividing The Word of God and They’re not Hearing from the holy spirit so they’re trying to put you into some Bondings That They’re probably and as Well It’s not a commandment but It Is a Spiritual Weapon My Friend It Is a Powerful Spiritual Weapon That God has Given Us and I believe he wants Every Born-Again Christian to realize it’s a Weapon They know They can use When it’s needed so let me Just share a Little Bit from the heart about this and Let The Holy spirit plant Water or Seed iF you’re new to this Fasting Is something none of us Enjoy doing especially me i have to admit i’m addicted to food I know i’m addicted to food Because Every time i could even Get consider Going on a fast going on Food i wanted about ten times more Than What i normally WouLd so That’S all the evidence i Need to know that i love Food and so When i do fast i need supernatural grace from the holy spirit Help from Lord Jesus Lots of Supernatural Unction from the father to Enable me to fast and then Once i fast i need The Blessing in favor of god to keep me on the fast because the temptations are Extremely intense not as much as They used to be but Let me Just share a Few Highlights to Help You receive This Very difficult message But before Moving Forward Let me Just share That the common Ways we see god move is to pray ask and Trust Isn’t it trusting God praying and Asking Believing that he will answer our prayer and a Lot of Happen cause to happen what we’d like to see happen and When that is not Working My friend i would Strongly encourage you to then consider Launch The Equivalent of a Nuclear Warhead it’s called a Weapon of fasting Fasting Will move God Fasting Will Break Through Strongholds Perhaps I Don’t know that We Really Know Quite how to articulate Why God Honors fasting i Know there’s a Lot of teaching That It demonstrates our Humility to god Like Very little if nothing else Does and That I would agree with what i’m not totally Convinced That That’s the Only reason God Honors fasting When he honors it i Think a Lot has to do with spiritual strongholds in the spirit realm and that When we fast It it somehow Energizes Angels to do the father’s bidding on our Behalf i take that principle from the book of Daniel and Daniel Fasted for the Nation of Israel After Three Weeks he was told By an Angel Who showed up you Know from the day that you prayed Your prayer Was Heard and Then Daniel Began to fast he was desperate for The Nation of Israel and so he did a Modified fast Taking Only in Those Mind meat Things and non sweets It Says Vegetables fruits don’t Know Exactly all of What it was but he Didn’t do a Water fast only but He felt to put some nutrition in his body but he fasted Probably Was gonna do It indefinitely Until God told HIm stop no need to go further with us And so the Angel come and Said from the day You started fasting and praying? Actually fasting I’m Sorry From They started Praying God Heard Your Prayer and he Really Answered it but It took three Weeks for These Angels to break Through The demonic Strongholds That Existed in the spirit realm Before The Angels could Answer the prayer or Get to get to daniel and Say Hey your prayer Was Heard and They’re in school and it’s gonna be gonna be taken care of Battles Been won another Round of Words Between Spirits of Good and Evil in the Unseen Realm and so I do believe that it’s more Energizing Angels Perhaps Moving God to Sandal more Angels or energizing The Angels God has Already dispatched to break That Demonic Assignment That’s Keeping Back That Which we so Earnestly desire From God or for god to do in our situation or on in the situation of somebody Else Let me go back When i got Miraculously Again Saved in the Early 1980s I was after 35 Years of Not being Born Again Spiritually Though I had some knowledge of What Christ accomplished for me on the cross i Wasn’t Connected The Way he knew i needed to be connected and so god Miraculously Did some things to get me fully connected to him That’s When i believe i got fully Spiritually Born Again And i was a hardcore Alcoholic at That time i Drank Every day and Drank a Lot Much of The time i was Drinking Half Three-Quarters of a Fifth of Hard Liquor an Evening Just to get to sleep and there Was a Lot of Drinking prior to that i was smoking three Packs of Cigarettes a Day minimum High-Stress Job I had and Smoked non-stop so When i got Saved i had those Two Addictions That i was asking and trusting God to break in my life and They Weren’t getting Broken and It Was getting Very frustrating for me because i did not want to continue Abusing Spacely Alcohol Had some serious Heart Issues at That time and i needed to Stop Drinking and Stop Smoking Maybe The smoking Was more Harmful to my heart Than the Drinking Only God Knows but i needed to stop both of them Just Not to have a stroke and be Handicapped The rest of My life or die and Basically Be Unfruitful for Doing Any Work of the Lord that he’s enabled me to do as of This taping Now for about Thirty Four Years Thank and praise Him and so The gal Kathleen Who became my Life Wife Later on Many Months Later she had Been a Christian for a While and in her little Library and Her her little trailer she had a book on fasting and i picked that book up and It Was an Admonition to fast and there were a Lot of testimonies of People Who got breakthrough When they fast and it Really Encouraged me because i had prayed Ask trust Had others Praying For me to have this Addiction of Alcohol and nicotine Broken off my life i would Cold Turkey and i pledge to god i’m not gonna drink anymore I’m gonna smoke anymore Well If You’ve Been Through That Crazy Cycle Of On-Again-OfF-Again and then You go back in a Weak moment and hate Yourself for It and then quit again and go back on it When Temptation hits Which usually didn’T Take Very long for me it was Just an Endless Cycle That i didn’t want To have continued But it’s like Well Why pray Why ask god iF you’re not gonna help me and he did help me The Strongholds were Just so much Deeper in my life he chose to put it in my heart to find That book on fasting and Read that and i Said well Then I’m gonna Try to fast and see if that Will Work at Breaking These Two Addictions off my life I started Out with the smoking first Because that Was the thing that i didn’t want. To give Up the most and It took some time but It Finally Got Broken and I never had the desire Taken Away to smoke i Just had the Supernatural Ability From God to say no When the temptation yet And It took about a Year if not Two Years for me to really Battle temptations Even Just Smelling Cigarette Smoke made me want it Watching Somebody smoke especially Where i worked in an office Job But There Was a Lot of Tension for Everyone Man Were there some tough temptations but eventually after several Weeks After the fasted well Immediately After The Fast Was over and i think i went maybe Three Days or so With no Food It Was Water only did not Know AnyThing about caffeine Withdrawals Which i went through and then My Body purging itself of Poisons Which is like the worst case of flu you ever had So between nicotine wiThdrawal I’m sorry Caffeine Withdrawals and Probably nicotine Withdrawals but The caffeine oh my lord i had Drank so much caffeine up to that time so So many Years i had no idea that i was going to go through Withdrawals for about three three and a Half Days Like a Heroin Addict or cocaine addict Would Go Through Going Cold Turkey You Know off of Their Addiction Drugs so That’s a Lesson Learned I’ve Learned a Modified Great Deal Now i Cut Way back on my caffeine but i want to tell you something right from the start if you don’t Hear This from any Other Source if you Drank a Lot of caffeine you may want to consider having a Half a cup of caffeine coffee? In the morning or a 1/2 of coca-cola or wherever you’re getting Your caffeine a Mountain Dew Whatever You might want to consider Having? Half of That The first Few Times you fast Because You Will Go through WiThdrawals and Satan Will use that as trauma and You’ll Say I’m not going to continue this and i’m never going to fast again and There are People Who write and speak about fasting and don’t Mention that i Know There’d Be a Lot of People Who’d be Opposed to what i’m sharing with you but i i really think God Does Not want us being traumatized When we fast Knowing That Satan Doesn’t want us to fast I’m fully convinced Satan Never once it’s too fast because he knows that that will accomplish Things for god and for us that Prayer Our trust Alone won’t So be wise with the caffeine if you’ve Got other Addictions Sugar Addiction sometimes Sugar When the body without Sugar and People Who abuse sugar late i Gotta Have some Sugar so be open to taking a Little Bit of sugar Try to take The least Amount but don’t traumatize your body and Have a Bad experience and Say no thank you i’m never gonna do this again And Still Not even seeing Any breakthrough from It Either so yet Just the Word further wise so Anyway i Eventually After That Fastening It didn’t take i came off the fast and i had a sense of Knowing i wasn’t gonna Say Yes to cigarettes anymore And so that Worked though i Got Weak Moments After That for the Next several months and Would Go back a time or two but i would fast again and Finally It stopped and the same for Alcohol i Was Able to give it up i think maybe It took a couple of Times for me to fast but It continued to strengthen My resolve to say no When temptation came up so i realized That There Was a Huge value in fasting i didn’t Understand back Then That It Was a Spiritual Weapon That God has Given Us and There’s a time to use it and The time to use it is to consider it Using That Weapon When everything Else Seems to not Be working i Think the Key that i have Learned in the 34 Years of My Walking With The Lord on this and Studying and reading Listening to what others have to say i don’t believe fasting Will Get everything we Want from god i Don’t subscribe to that It Does Not Work for me i read other People speak and write about It and they’re in agreement with That Fasting is not The Secret to get everything out of God you can’t get otherwise But It is a Key to get from god things that he really Wants you. To have that you Might Not Get otherwise You take The principle and the old testament of The Jewish People When they got into rebellion of Various Sorts And God Was allowing Their enemies to clean Their clock and annihilate Him Usually The The King or the prophet would announce a Fast for the masses of People so we got a fast with our prayer Prayer alone and getting It We Need to fast so they Would call a corporate fast and Somehow that Would Break the Strongholds That Was coming Against them and Would Save them from Being Annihilated By Their enemies or at Least Greatly Diminished in Number so that Was something god if you look through The old testament fasting Was something with Things Really Got difficult for the Jewish Nation or in warfare They were called to add fasting with Their prayer and nothing Really Has Changed The nature of God that i can see once Jesus came to earth and Lived His third Thirty Years and went back to heaven It Still Is a Spiritual Weapon of Mighty Mighty Usefulness and It Just Doesn’t Say That in the new testament you got to get that from the holy spirit i don’t know Why but It Just is and well Let me fast Forward i’ve Written about a Few occasions Testimonies Where god is used fasting in my own life it’s like i haven’t put them all up there but i can tell you That Fast Forward The Clock old 30 2530 Years After i Got Born again and i was Having a Lot had severe back issues for a long time and it Was incapacitating me and i needed to get a Job sitting down and needed to get stress off My Life Because There Was a Lot of Heart Issues going on at That time as well And So i was encouraged to file for social Security disability But i was Pretty Much Assured i wasn’t going to get it because i didn’t. Have the right Issues Going on in my Body that Would qualify me for it but i you Know again Thought Well if i don’t file for It i won’t know whether god wants to give it to me that Way or Not and if he does then i won’t have to be forced to stay in the workforce At least Doing What i was Doing for Many Years And could settle for something With a Paid less and Make Ends meet and so I 5 social Security disability and i Near The end of 6 months i Called The representative that Was assigned to me from social Security and and He said well he said We have Approved you at My Level we’ve sent YouR file off. To chicago to be approved So you’ll have to check over there chicago and see What They have to say so i called the social Security Number in chicago They Said well we Never Got Your file Will and Will know who you are Don’t call back to Kalamazoo Michigan Which is where the agent was from the social Security doing an Investigation i Mean Told Him and he Said well we sent it off so long Story Short My Whole file Was on a train going to nowhere or the train that never returned so to speak it Was lost It’s like How can they Approve of My Social Security When they had no file on me so i didn’t Know if They lied to me or what They were Doing Stalling i’ll Never Know This day but i went to god on that and of Course i had Really Been Praying and trusting God as much as i was Able that if This Was His well That he Would approve this That freed me up and my wife so i could devote more of My Time to Ministries Was What Was my Heart’s desire so i have to go back Out in the workforce and Do Ministry part-time like i’d done for Years and Years and So i went to lord and ask and he said This Stronghold Was so intense you need to fast he spoke it Very Clearly That’s okay and so i fasted and i Think i don’t know they all blend Together after i think Maybe Fasted five six Seven eight Days Mine maybe and Then The Holy spirit Said That’s enough He Just spoke to my spirit Said That’s enough You don’t need a fast anymore Which is the way it has Been with me for Number of Years Now When i fast People Say Well How many Days you’re gonna fast for Let’s Say I don’t know It doesn’t Work for me i can’t do Days i have to go in a day At a time an hour at a time Pretty Much and i Just Ask God Give Me grace and strength to fast And Let me know When i don’t Need to fast anymore because i sure like eating Food each day Goes by i Want Food more and more so he knows that i know that i don’t want a fast One second long and i have to That’s Just How much My flesh It Likes Food and So god is really Honored that It is amazing and i recommend that for anybody Just You Know so people have to get motivated by Days Set a Goal and Try to arrive at Those Days It doesn’t Work for me it has i tried it Doesn’t Work i’ve got to Go God Let me know when it’s over and give me strength each day to keep Going on it I also want to say Fasting Let Many People Have the questions about? fasting You Know okay do i do Water or air Water and i’m a Big advocate of Juice fasting i Believe Water fasting is something You have to grow into most Christians have to grow into it but Health-Wise Is one of the most Beneficial Depending on Health Issues you have But Most People can’t Handle Water Only and so i advocate E-Juices you’re getting Nutrition you’re getting Energy It’S a Psychological Benefit You don’t have with Water but the holy spirit moves some People Just. Too fast on Water Some People in serious situations That can Do That Health-wise The Holy spirit leads them too fast With no liquids no Foods no liquids but never more Than three Days Three Days Is pushing It most People can Go three Days If there exerting Themselves and Heat or extreme cold They don’t have do a Lot of Activity They can They can survive three Days Without Liquids but It’s not Recommended you can do damage to the organs you don’t do that and So you have to be led to the holy spirit to do that I think another Key time there have Been a Number of Key Times When when god has told me you Need to fast to see what you’re asking and trusting for to happen And i won’t ramble on anymore i know i’m rambling a Lot I’ve Linked Some writings that i have done or others have done that i thought were Excellent writings and you can Link? Click on Those Links you can Go down to the description section and link on those and take a look at Those my Friend you Need Every spiritual Weapon You and i as Born-Again Believers Need Every spiritual Weapon That God has Given Us We Know we Need to know when to use it We Need to learn how to use it so Just Tuck That Away Let me say Again about fasting fasting Doesn’t move God to give you everything You’d Like for god to give you or do for you And i have over The Years fast at at Times Kind of hoping That if i Fasted god might Change his Mind on something and i personally Have not had Him do That? And i’ve come to realize that i can want something so bad that i think it’s something i need and Then When the Dust Settles and i didn’t Get It from god through The fasting of Course Along With Prayer or trust It’s something i realized That It Was a It Was a Tool That Maybe God Would give me what i wanted after all And It Just has Not Worked for me so i subscribe to the fact you want To listen to the Holy spirit as best as you’re Able and When he’s moving Your Heart or Speaks to you Clearly To engage in fasting go and Faith Doing That Listening and Letting Him speak to you at all Times as to what Kind of a Fast how long would to come off of it If you look at detoxing Only i there are many Times i’ve Learned The Health Benefits of detoxing i Throw a Fasting Detoxing in there Because Many People Who write speak on fasting Say it’s designed to bring Us closer to god Helps Destroy Strongholds of Doubt and unbelief and apathy and I’ve seen That Happen in my life I’ve Seen It happened and i know that that is not Just for me so sometimes when we fast Just to have our faith? Strengthened our Trust Elevated to where we can Trust more Firmly and Staunchly When we can Pray Better When we can be more valuable to God to get apathy out of our life of Course sin Out of our life god Will under That we’re Just engaging in sin and we Can’t Stop sin My friend we decided to Try Fasting God Will take us up on it i mean he is in big time here to helping us break Strongholds of sin in our Lives i think That’s probably one of the most Beneficial Benefits there is to fasting Is to get strongholds of sin Broken off of our life When we Constantly give in to temptations to sin When you know when the devil was comes our way so Just Be Very Careful don’t get all bummed Out and freaked out if fasting Doesn’t. Seem to work for you I’m a firm Believer When Jesus Says Fast for unselfish Reasons don’t go around Flaunting It and Looking for Pity Because you Got hunger Pangs Going on and you’re Weak and this or That Got to reward us in eternity before It God Knows how hard it is for us to fast and We’ll Get rewarded Somehow an Eternity for It even if we don’t Get What we’d like to be getting In the immediate future after while we’re fasting or Shortly Thereafter? Let me Just show you something else that i’d Help You i have never ever Seen God? Give me what i was hoping he would give me When i fasted i Struggle in fasting i mean i struggled my Mind i am not alert like some People. Seem to get more Alert Even With Juicing quality Juicing quality vegetable Juices Quality Fruit Juices Each day Goes by i get dimmer and dimmer emotionally Mentally i don’t remember as Much The Confusion can Set in And so That’s Just The Way It is for me and it’s When i break the fast and i Get Food in my Belly and I’m getting back to normal again it’s like That’s When i see god move Some times a Day or two sometimes a Few Days Later That’s When i really see god move and honor The fast i Know i’ve Read were other People during the fast god Honors Out and i had that Happen Well Way back at The beginning of When i got Saved after getting Delivered of Alcohol and The smoking i Was Looking At a Career Change i was looking to what i was to be doing in Ministry and Maybe You’ve Heard us maybe not but i was Working on a proposed 10 book Series i was riding and gonna self-Published and That Would be a full-time career if i could Get enough book Sales in time and but It wasn’t That’s What i was doing before i got Saved Well Now and i got Saved Book Sales were drying Up and i couldn’T concentrate to write as much as i could before and a Lot of Things were not happening Right That i thought Should Be happening Right Now that i was connected properly with god so i had to go to god and Say God you Know Should I keep Doing this book series or not and i was i went on a 7 day Water Fast only It Was a 2nd 3rd 4th time i’d ever fasted and i’d Been Born again but maybe Here so not Stress Has Hit me non-stop and i was so frustrated from what do we Do God what do we Do and So i i went on a fast to try to hear God Clearly Tell me what he wanted me to do with my life and Career and Ministry and All That and And 4 Nights into that fast god came to me in a dream and Shared With me that he would like for me to publish testimonies for His Glory and though I could continue to do that book series he had honor and in a small Way but if i wanted maximize reward for Eternity I would publish testimonies Years Later i Began to write for Jesus so that Was a neat Blessing aside from So my writing Gift Was eventually Able to be used for his Glory and Hopefully to touch the Lives of others and Then it’s Branched Out into doing video as well so video writing Speaking in prisons Now Ministering There and So there’s Been a Number of Ways to be Able to do the Lord’s work and i praise and Thank god for that but The The the you know so that Was a time During the fast that god Clearly communicated. To me so Don’t Get the Feeling like he won’t communicate to you or hand or do something Very Powerfully Special For You During the fast Yours May be a bit a Whole lot different Than mine They tell you a Little incident One Time When i was fasting and i already to remember What It was for i was at Work and had a High-stress Job and It’s tough Going Without Food and I’ve Been fasting a Few Days and going Through and It Was a Tough Fast for me and i went out at One time on my lunch hour Just pray and seek God During That Fast and was Having a Terrible time Mentally Warfare was Very intense no Doubt and I Was Reading My Bible in My car and Then It Was time for My Lunch Break to be over and of Course i was doing some praying then and I Had to get back into Work for the afternoon so i i was a little late Realized i’d gone a Little Over so i was in a Big rush to get out of the car get back up into the building Where i worked and I Got Outside The car tried to lock It Was the old push down lock on The Passenger side i tried to push it down it Would not go down i Kept Shoving and Shoving That lock to lock This car and it Would Not lock and i was getting so frustrated In fact i was telling God god i you know i gotta lock This Door i got Like This door and i don’t help me help me nice Shoving That Thing down and it never had a problem locking that car pushing the button you know inside the window and Pushing It Down locking It and I get more and more frustrated and all of a Sudden i Look There and Hear My car Keys are in the Middle of the seat is laying right There The Middle of The seat i had forgotten to pick them up and stick them in my pocket before trying to lock the door Pick them up i saw the Lord Thank you thank you thank you and Got outside Push the button locked easily Instantly first time so god sent an Angel or Just Supernaturally Kept me from getting Locked Out of My car Which would have Been Been a Lot more frustrating ill after Work so I’ve seen God do some Things like That i’ve lost items i can’t find and We’ll go on a Day or fast and god Just Miraculously Shows me where they are there’s Just i could go on and on and on but it is so neat to See god work so quickly When i have not Seen Any Work Just praying and trusting Alone Many Times on my Walk with God so it’s almost like man it’s Just Need to fast to to see god Intervene in situations when you think he might not otherwise so i don’t know It’s Just Wonderful no it’s not easier for me to give up Food Now 34 Years Later Than It Was back then but i don’t eat as Much 69 now so i don’t Need the food that i used to need to make it and I’m very quick on Going on Juice Fasts and detoxing at The same time i’ve Learned The value of detoxing and i am a Staunch Staunch Believer That Executing preventive Maintenance to keep Our immune system strong Flush toxins out of our Bodies Flesh bacteria Viruses That are Lingering There flush Em out of our System Detoxing Is is a I believe to be a priceless Means of preventive Maintenance I have had Said i’ve had Sinus infections i’ve had Various Things and i’ve Gone on? Detoxes and Gotten Delivered Brought Has Brought Healing My wife and i both know enough we’ve Read enough and seeing God do things in our Lives Read Other testimonies Where god has done Things in other People’s Lives from fasting Detoxing in detox and God Will Honor That but i think he doesn’t talk about detoxing and The Bible Talks about fasting and so I’ve come to conclude that i’d Rather, Have call It a Fast Slash detox Get the benefit of both? and i Know Let me Just share something Here i know this is chopping this up But What’s going on inside the body when you take in Juices it You are shutting down the digestive system This Works so hard eating and digesting Food So it’s not Nearly as difficult on your internal organs to process Liquids Only And of Course When i do Juice is always Drinking Lots of Water with It i don’t Just do Juices But My wife and i both Concluded if we Get Cancer we’re diagnosed with Cancer The first Thing we’re gonna do is going fast We’re going to fast as long As The holy spirit tells us the fast and enable us to fast We may Modify That With some Juices but it’s going to primarily be Water fast Until The Holy spirit Says it’s enough it’s Broken or Says nothing and We Just Go off of It Because we can’t stand to not be without Food any longer There there are People that understand that a Water only fast Burns Out Toxins Burns Out disease Germs Much quicker There’s something Going on in the Body that Burns Out the Bad stuff Faster if You Just Go on a Water fast Only and Drinking Quality Juices Delays That or Potentially Doesn’t Get the Job done But My wife and i both Will go on a fast Or as long As We Believe God Wants us to or a Series of Fasts if we Have to take a Break Go back take a Break go back and Then When we Feel The Holy spirit is Saying Go we’ll go back to the doctor and Be Examined to see if there’s any change and Then Again Listen okay it’ll be chemo little be radiation it’ll be Surgery Usually Those are the three common Options are Given With Cancer If you’re not so Advanced They Say none is going to work so it’s not even going to matter We’re gonna give god a chance to heal us but we also Understand That It may Not Get affected It may not Happen Because the assignment on us is so strong To take us out of This World so we can no longer be effective for God we’re to use a Weapon of fasting i Am 100% Persuaded It is the equivalent of a Huge mega tonnage Nuclear Warhead Spiritually Speaking and If we don’t employ It how will we ever know if god will honor it or not So That’s Just Where we are Other People May not be there We have found that most People The Christians in America we’ve Known They’d Rather Die They’d Rather Go with Chemo They’d Rather Go a Surgery Radiation Combination of Those Things Before They Would go in a fast Why because They are addicted to food and don’t want. To admit It and don’t want To go through The battle of coming off that Addiction and Experiencing Withdrawals It’S a subconscious process i would Suspect It not a conscious one but It Does Amaze me a Number of People Have? Written Over time to the precious testimonies Ministry and i Felt to respond to them and They Say i Prayed I’ve had Other People praying for my Healing and or for somebody else and it’s not Working and so Then i Say Have You considered the Weapon oh fascinating And You never Hear from them again you know What Happened well i pretty much Know What Happened not interested norm Ain’t going to go to that Extreme The Medical Profession at large Knows nothing That could care less about the wisdom of fasting Because They can’t make any Money at It They also might Fear That They’re Not Needed you know some of These Doctors Think That Their God Walking Around in White coats and a stethoscope Around Their neck so to speak so not all of Course thank God praise god for doctors praise god for the medical Profession but The World is brainwashed Thinking If god Doesn’t use the doctors to make me better Then i guess god Just Doesn’t want to be better and i’ve come to realize new Christians Live and die Never Sing Delivers our Healing Because They refuse for One reason or another to engage in employing the weapon of fasting So thanks if you Got This far and Let me share and i pray Little Plan or want to see it in you or for someone Else and you Know tuck it in your arrow quiver you Know fasting Is a arrow Sticking in Your quiver keep It there as You engage in spiritual warfare and Know where to pull that baby out and shoot that one and leave all The arrows back in there I liken it to that Type of a Weapon but, no one to use it and Learn to use It learn to go a day Without Food won’t Kill you learn to go two Days Without Food fasting Needs to be built on the foundation of Victories You Learn to make It one day Without food you look back at That and Say Well it’s Pretty cool i made It a day Without Food Wow well Next time Try Two Days Just to do it Just to learn how to be Able to Go Without Food and deal With Any Withdrawals from Any of The Things that you may be addicted to and don’t even know you’re addicted to caffeine primarily being one The Most Common Sugars a Close Second and some of The chemicals are adding into stuff we Eat and Drink a Third and so Build a Brick upon Brick of confidence Go two Days Without Food When the time is right Go three Days Times right Go for Days Learn to get Up i never thought in a million Years i could fast more Than a Week i remember some Years back i went 30 Days on Juices Only One of The Benefits for me is I get Up i’m 6 3 and a Half Roughly and Pretty Good framed and i Get Up Around 250 pounds and That’s too Much Weight for me to be carrying and i remember One time Was Up to two Hundred and Fifty Seven Fifty eight Pounds i was back about five Years Ago Eating and Couldn’T do a Whole Lot Because the back issues and it’s not sleeping and and So god Moved me to go on a detox fast detox and Within Nine Days i was down to 218 Pounds and i’ve Seen that Consistently i can Lose 20 to 30 pounds in less Than Two Weeks Just being on Juices It’s amazing i Know everybody can’t but i don’t Normally Do It for that but It’s a it’s a byproduct and of Course it’s nice to Know you’re healthier getting some pounds off of you so but i don’t you know for me i Go the first four or five Days and maybe lose Half a Pound a day and about starting a Sixth day on a Juice Fast Water And Juice Fast i’ll Start Like Losing a Pound then on the seventh day i might start Losing Three or four or five pounds by the end of the day and on the eighth day i Man i by Nine by Nine Days I’ve lost Twenty Twenty-five Pounds And i’ve never had to go any Longer Than that. To lose a Lot of Pounds It Doesn’t stay off and definitely of Course Because i tend to go back and put Things in my body that Adds you Know calories and They Stack Up growing fat but but It is And i would no more take a diet pill i no more taking any of This crap They want To sell me to lose weight i would Use some of The diets That Seemed Wise But for me i’d Rather cleanse My system Out take preventive Maintenance to build My immune system strong To kill off all the Bad Guys is trying to take Over the body to give you Sickness and disease and Build Your body back up destroy any Sickness and disease you’re Dealing with at that moment and Learn to build another Foundational Stone underneath You to say yeah i can’t Go without Food When i want it bad enough i can do this And That’s That You’re Building a Victory so that When you really might Need to fast It’s not such a traumatic Thing you can look back so i’ve done at This time Does That time it that many Days You i Survived Benefits from It Why not Now and that can Be Huge Because Satan Is constantly Bombarding our Mind trying to con con us into Believing i Just can’t Go without Food or i won’t go without Food i Just won’t God Would Expect This he’ll hand You every reason in the World not to fast let me tell you a Friend i’ve Been Through Those i’d like to tell People Minister on fasting especially with a Minister on this and the prisons When i started Thinking about Fasting i can Smell French Fries cooking in hong Kong i Live Up in central the United States Michigan and i can Some i Swear i can smell McDonald’s French Fries cooking in hong Kong You Turn Tv on Never notice All the Food That’s on there you start fasting or thinking about? Fasting Like Three-Quarters of Everything You Watch on tV or looking at the inner and That’s Got Food in the background Just screams out you You Know you Walk past a refrigerator and Food starts scream and eat, me me me you know That’s all Demonic Well you Know That’s Satan is Working everything he can to keep Christians from Learning The Priceless value Fasting so The Equip Soldier men and Women of God we Need it warfare is intensifying and we can Go to our grave in Sickness and Diseases or depression or combination of Different factors never Seeing Victory and getting so frustrated with God well i’m Glad Your Prayers and Trust Work for you two didn’t Work for me well Fine if we Go to Heaven in Whatever it Is we’re battling the lettuce first employ? The Weapon of fasting and see if that is the The Very Thing that Breaks Satan’s assignment off our Lives i Think we Owe That to Ourselves we Owe it to god Let’S live as long As we can to be as productive as we can Be for God Once Our time Is done here on this planet somebody Else is going to have to do it? God can’t use us anymore as far as we Know so take care and God Bless You Check out the writings Below in the link and see if something down there might be a benefit to you okay

great session 👍 a question I have, Pastor, is during what situation would fasting be necessary? being tempted, waiting for a response from God, or repentance? I'm not sure

FASTING AND PRAYER: KEY TO BREAKTHROUGH – Part 1:  FASTING AND  PRAYER: KEY TO BREAKTHROUGH!Jesus Did It!
By:  Norm Rasmussen  Please Help Share God's Best News GospelThe following writing is one of the most important writings a Christian could  read, bar none … and re-read frequently because Satan does NOT want  Christians tapping into the powerful weapons of combined fasting and prayer.  Fasting incorporated with prayer is NOT an option for Christians … for those who are serious about their relationship  with God … for those who want to walk in any spiritual victory. Jesus  makes a bold promise to His followers in Matthew 6:17-18, (Endorsed by the Holy  Spirit, no less, because He oversaw WHAT got published in God's Word, so 2/3's of the Godhead are in complete agreement on the matter, for any  skeptics!) that if they will fast by the inner prompting of the Holy Spirit  and/or simply because of wisdom, they will be given a reward from the Father.   I can personally attest to the fact that every time I have  fasted, God has rewarded me in one way or another.  Often times the  reward/s comes after I've stopped fasting.  No – I didn't always  receive from Him everything I would like to have received from Him in my fasting  – but He let me KNOW He was pleased with my fasting by a reward of some sort  that I absolutely KNOW I would not have received from Him otherwise.  So in  conclusion, it is my own personal experience that one simply can never come up  short fasting when their primary reason is to either have sinful/harmful  strongholds – demonic assignments broken, in need of healing, see miraculous  provision provided in times of great need, and/or simply to try to gain greater  intimacy with God … which is what I personally believe should always be the primary reason to fast in the first place.  After 36 years of being a follower of Jesus  Christ at present (2017), I have grown to the firm conviction that fasting is no  longer to ever be an option for me.  It's just a matter of WHEN I should  fast; HOW I should fast; how LONG I should fast.  I do poorly at setting a  goal of how many days I should fast as well at the beginning of a fast.   I've grown to the point where I take each day at a time, and openly admit to  myself and anyone else who might ask that if the Holy Spirit doesn't give me the  grace to refrain from solid food each and every day, the fast is over.  I  admit I am addicted to food.  The reason I know I'm addicted to food is  that when I even think about going without food … I want it 100 times worse!   Thus without the strength of Christ to help me say no to food even for one meal,  or one day, my food addiction would rule!  To me, fasting should be built  on an "emotional foundation" of past-successive victories, especially for people  who are as addicted to food as I am, and/or have health issues that they need to  be careful with when it comes to fasting.  Skipping one meal is a huge  victory starting out.  Skipping food for an entire day is an even BIGGER  victory for many.  Going two days or more without food can be "Metal Of  Honor" status!  Any wise person that knows anything about fasting will tell  you to start out safely conservative, and build up a history of VICTORIES over  time you can look back on to build your confidence going into a new future fast. Some Christians get all emotionally psyched  up to shoot for a long fast right out of the gate, and have no clue that they most  likely will have to deal with detoxing issues, whether it be caffeine  withdrawals for about 3 – 3 1/2 days a the start of the fast (which can be  almost as painful as detoxing from cocaine or heron for some, depending on how  much caffeine buildup they have in their bodies.  [I sometimes will drink a  little caffeinated coffee during my fast every day just so I don't have to deal with  caffeine withdrawals, though I know some hard-core fasters would consider that a  near abomination, but oh well ….).  In addition, some people even go  through painful withdrawals for a few hours from being addicted to refined  sugar.  And if caffeine and sugar withdrawals aren't even an issue, most  people will begin to eliminate the buildup of toxins from their bodies and that can last as long as about 3 – 4 days.  Eliminating toxins alone can feel as  painful as having a bad case of the flue.  Combine these issues going into  a fast, and the end result can be EMOTIONAL TRAUMA.  Meaning – once you've  been traumatized, it's human nature to NEVER repeat ever again what caused your  trauma the first time around!  I'm totally convinced Satan would love every  Christian to have trauma visit them the first few times they fast … so they  STOP fasting completely in their future, so be WISE about building your  "emotional foundation" of fasting experiences.  Staring out – going a day without food and  drinking only liquids was a HUGE miracle for me.  Now 21 days is quite  easy, if I feel led to go that long, because I've learned to keep quality fruit  and vegetable juice in my system along with water to keep my nutritional levels  up, and I refuse to go on ANY guilt trip if I feel a bit shaky due to low blood  sugar and eat an orange or an apple.  Sometimes I just need a small reward  to not totally break the fast, so I'll eat a small breakfast or snack later in  the day … KNOWING it's just a temporary emotional reward to help me STAY  fasting.  I'm a believer that we need to trust the Holy Spirit every moment  we are fasting, because fasting is not a race, nor are we to compare ourselves  to what someone else is able to do.  It's a lifetime MARATHON of victories,  and we each have to go at the level we are able and comfortable with at any  given time.  As I tell everyone who will listen:  Fasting is a weapon in a Christian's spiritual arsenal, and you need to know  WHEN to use it.  It is neither the equivalent of a B-B gun nor a .22  caliber bullet in power.   Rather, it is the equivalent of a spiritual NUCLEAR WARHEAD.  You just need to learn that it IS a weapon that potent, and you need  to learn how to wisely use it when it's time to use it. We are so thankful to Advocates For Prayer for allowing us to give additional exposure to this wisdom-packed writing.Additional Resources:For those who are in need of a  healing, this writing can be greatly beneficial:  Give Your Insides A  Vacation, For Goodness Sakes, as can this one be also:  We're In A  Spiritual Battle, Whether We Like It Or Not.Here is another:  http://www.donnapartow.com/fasting-for-40-days/ Awesome video  about prayer and fasting that ALL Christians need to hear:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6jvnfdUQhI Though this video clip  addresses the wisdom of detoxing more than fasting, it is a PRICELESS source of  information for breakthroughs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DR2FYWkr2c Here  is an insightful two-part video clip that addresses Fasting (and Prayer):   Part 1  Part 2

FASTING AND PRAYER – Part 2:  Introduction OUR STUDY OF PRAYER has emphasized the role of our prayers on earth to invoke the power of our God from heaven.  Prayer is powerful because it is human weakness deferring to God’s strength.  As James write, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."  (See James 5:16 KJV.)When the righteous pray fervently, God’s power is released to accomplish much.  But, what about those times when the cares of life distract us from seeing our righteous standing before God through Christ and cause us to pray limp prayers that bounce back at us?  In such times, our prayers need help.  We need a breakthrough in our prayer lives.A biblical key to a breakthrough in our prayer lives is to join fasting with prayer.  Jesus told His disciples on one occasion that the reason they could not cast out a particular spirit of infirmity from a demonized lad was because of their unbelief (See: Matthew 17:20-21).  A few verses later, He added these words:  "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." The point is that prayer and fasting combined can debunk our unbelief and re-empower our prayer lives.  When prayer alone doesn’t work, prayer and fasting will bring the breakthrough. I find that the practical lessons learned from the Bible regarding prayer and fasting can be presented in an orderly fashion by allowing the Bible to address the following question:  When should we fast?  Scripture answers this question in a variety of ways that are sure to touch each of our lives.  Let’s look at them. When We Feel Estranged From GodWe should fast when we feel estranged from God.  It is sin that separates us from God and brings upon us the sentence of death.  (See Isaiah 59:2 and Romans 6:23).  But, Scripture teaches that Jesus took the penalty of our sins in His own death and defeated death for us through His resurrection.  (See Romans 5:10.)  By believing in and accepting this redeeming work of Jesus Christ for us, we are reconciled to God.  (See Romans 5:1.)  We are no longer estranged. I don’t believe Christians ever feel estranged from God because of questioning Jesus’ work of redemption for them.  I believe it is when they turn the focus upon themselves and question the sincerity of their own humility, repentance, and acceptance of pardon.  After all, these three responses on our part are the requirement of Scripture for receiving God saving grace. When we feel that our hearts are growing cold toward God and that we lack sincerity in our humility, repentance, and acceptance of pardon, fasting and prayer are instrumental in restoring passion in our relationship with God by bringing renewed depth and sincerity to our responses to Him.  Let’s see how this plays out in Scripture. Fasting Signifies Humility  The children of Israel were required by God’s decree to fast on the annual Day of Atonement.  (See Leviticus 16:29).  God’s gift of atonement was to be met by their response of humility.  Fasting was the means by which they were to demonstrate their humility.Saul of the New Testament exemplifies fasting as a response of humility before God.  When he encountered the resurrected Christ in a vision on the Damascus Road and was brought to the realization that he had been fighting against God by persecuting the Church, he humbled himself with prayer and fasting for three days.  (See Acts 9:9.)  It was then that he received the gift of salvation, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and a call to take the gospel to the Gentiles.  (See verses 15-18.)  He was prepared to receive God’s grace through humility expressed in fasting. Fasting Demonstrates Repentance  Joel’s prophesy of judgment upon unfaithful Israel was followed by a divine call to ward off judgment through a fast of repentance.  The Lord beckoned, "‘Even now,’ declares the LORD, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments.  Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.’"  (See Joel 2:12-13.)  Similarly, James exhorts New Testament believers with these words:  "Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."  (See James 4:8-10.)  Fasting demonstrates the brokenness of a heart that is truly repentant for sin. Fasting Appeals To God For Forgiveness And Pardon  Ahab was a king of Israel described as one who "did more evil in the eyes of the LORD than those before him."  (See 1 Kings 16:30).  But when God spoke to him through Elijah with a prophecy of impending judgment, we read that he "he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted.  He lay in sackcloth and went around meekly."  (See 1 Kings 21:27.)  God saw Ahab’s humility and fasting as repentance and withheld judgment until the next generation.  (See verses 28-29.)What God did for Ahab He will do for his people corporately.  This is assured in the Lord’s response to Solomon’s prayer dedicating the temple:  "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  (See 2 Chronicles 7:14.)  The humble response of fasting and prayer, God said, would assure pardon and restoration.A tell-tale sign that we are growing cold toward God is that our relationship with Him lacks heart.  Humility, repentance, and acceptance of God’s pardon become more words that we say in prayer than genuine heart attitudes toward God.  The principle is there but the passion is missing.  In such a condition, if we are honest with ourselves we will have to admit that we feel estranged from God.  How do we restore passion to our relationship with Him?  The biblical answer is to humble ourselves before him with fasting and prayer. When We Feel Weak And VulnerableWe should fast when we feel weak and vulnerable.  This may seem to be illogical as fasting weakens one physically.  Many use food for psychologically gratification when they feel beat up emotionally.  They are saying essentially, "I believe I’ll feel better after I eat."  So, why on earth would one prescribe fasting to treat vulnerability? The logic here is that vulnerability points to our dependence upon God, and prayer and fasting appeals to God to intervene at the point of our need.  When we feel vulnerable, we need God to protect us from harm and give us victory over adversity.  Scripture confirms that God responds to fasting and prayer by providing protection from harm and victory over the Enemy.

FASTING AND PRAYER – Part 3:  Fasting Appeals To God For Protection  When Ezra the scribe appealed to the Persian King Artaxerxes to send him and an entourage of devout Jews to Jerusalem to re-establish religious instruction and worship among the newly returned exiles, he called a fast for protection along the way.  In his words, "There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions."  (See Ezra 8:21)  The result?  "So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer."  (See verse 23.)  Likewise Nehemiah, troubled by the report of the sad state of affairs among the returned exiles in Jerusalem, "mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven."  (See Nehemiah 1:4.)  As a result, God gave him favor with King Artaxerxes to secure the provisions and protection needed to travel to Jerusalem and assist in rebuilding the city. Fasting Appeals To God For Victory  Jehoshaphat, a king of Judah, learned the power of prayer and fasting to conquer literal military adversaries.  When faced with a military alliance of Ammonites, Moabites, and Meunites, Jehoshaphat called a fast for all the people of Judah.  (See 2 Chronicles 20:3.)  The result was that God set confusion in the camp of the enemy so that they turned upon themselves and destroyed each other.  (See verses 22-23.)For the prophet Elijah, prayer and fasting brought victory over a powerful demonic principality operating through Queen Jezebel.  Elijah was fearless in the face of King Ahab and 850 prophets of Baal and Asherah (see 1 Kings 18:16-40) but ran for his life at the threat of Jezebel because she was empowered by a demonic principality of witchcraft that intimidated him.  (See 1 Kings 19:1-3 and 2 Kings 9:22.)  At the end of a 40 day period of fasting and prayer while in route to Mount Horeb to meet with God, Elijah received a message from God that assured Him of the Lord’s sovereignty over political and spiritual forces.  (See 1 Kings 19:15-18.)  He was able to return at God’s command with no fear for his security as God had assured victory over his enemies.Fasting places us in the position to receive from God’s hand protection from harm and victory over the enemy of our soul.  It is not that God withholds these blessings from us but that we have been blindsided by the enemy into living below our privilege.  Fasting and prayer opens our eyes to see things in right perspective so that we cast off our insecurity complex and embrace an expectation of continual blessing and favor.  To employ computer terminology, the old insecurity program is removed from memory and replaced with a new blessing program. When We Feel Tension In Our RelationshipsWe should fast when we feel tension in our relationships.  A sign that God’s grace is doing its work in our lives is that we have harmonious relationships with other believers.  Walking in the light of God’s truth means that we "have fellowship with one another." (See 1 John 1:7.) Fellowship implies that we relate to each other as equals.  Lack of fellowship means that we either feel we are above others or below them.  But, when we are able to accept ourselves and accept others equally, a fellowship is established that paves the way for the glory of God to be revealed.  The prophet Isaiah writes, "Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.  And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it.  For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."  (See Isaiah 40:4-5.)When done as God prescribes, fasting and prayer proves to be a great leveler.  It brings the haughty down to size and lifts the oppressed from their valley of despair.  This is evident from the description of God’s chosen fast as related in Isaiah 58. We Should Fast When We Tend To Be Oppressive Towards Others  Sometimes our lives become so self-absorbed that we unintentionally develop attitudes that are oppressive towards others.  Even our fasting can be self-absorbed as it focuses on what we want from God as a result of our fast.  In answer to such, God encouraged the people of Israel not to fast merely as an outward form of humility before God while continuing to exploit their workers and quarrel among themselves.  (See Isaiah 58: 3-5.)  Rather, their times of fasting were to be combined with setting the oppressed free and providing food for the hungry, clothing for the naked, and shelter for the homeless.  (See verses 6-7.)  Fasting as God prescribes turns oppressive attitudes into new attitudes that truly liberate others. We Should Fast When We Feel Oppressed By Others  The blessings of God promised to those who adhere to his chosen fast apply both to the repentant oppressor and the oppressed one who needs to be lifted from his valley of despair.  Those blessings are listed as healing, vindication, revelation, enlightenment, satisfaction, strength, prosperity, productivity, joy, and victory.  (See Isaiah 58: 8-14.)  These are results of allowing fasting to be practiced in such a way that is becomes a great leveler to our relationships. When fasting, we should combine the denial of self with the affirmation of others.  We humble ourselves before God and commit to offer ourselves as servants to others to lift them from the humiliation of oppression.  As we make this two-way commitment, we will find that God’s chosen fast replaces tension in our relationships with harmony among fellow believers. When We Desire To Draw Closer To God We should fast when we desire to draw closer to God.  Fasting is not just a discipline for bringing problems to God to be fixed.  It is also an expression of the heart’s longing for a greater intimacy in our walk with Him.  It is to set aside our physical appetites and the time required to prepare meals in order to focus more of our time and attention upon the Lord. Fasting Assures A Devotion That Lasts  When we have trouble maintaining consistency in our devotion to the Lord, it is usually because it does not come natural to deny ourselves and put God and his interests ahead of our own.  A regular practice of fasting and prayer helps assure more consistency in our devotion to God because it develops a lifestyle of self-denial.  This is part of the cost of true discipleship.  Jesus said, ""If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."  (See Luke 9:23.)The prophetess Anna serves as an example of one whose lifestyle of fasting enabled a lasting devotion to God.  She became a widow after only seven years of marriage.  Thereafter, she was wholly devoted to the Lord into her late eighties.  We read, "She never left the temple but worshipped night and day, fasting and praying."  (See Luke 2:37.)  And the intimacy she had with God was such that she immediately recognized the baby Jesus as the anointed Redeemer when His parents brought Him into the temple.  (See verse 38.)  Her devotion to the Lord made it easy for her to receive revelation from Him.Fasting Intensifies The Worship Of God  Another example of fasting being practiced as an aspect of worship is seen among the prophets and teachers of the church in Antioch.  (See Acts 13:1-3.)  They are described as "worshipping the Lord and fasting." (See verse 2.)  Like Anna, their devotion to the Lord made it easy for them to hear from Him, and He spoke to them during their worship to set apart Barnabas and Saul for a missionary work to which they were divinely called.  Upon receiving this word, they spent a season of time in fasting in prayer after which they laid hands upon Barnabas and Saul and sent them off on their first missionary journey.  (See verse 3.)Fasting is an exciting venture because it focuses us upon a deeper relationship with God.  God is a jealous God who gives Himself most fully to those who give themselves to Him most completely.  The discipline of fasting helps us to give ourselves more fully to the Lord by putting the ax to any tendencies we have that would distract our focus from Him.  In develops in us a consistency of devotion that draws us into God’s confidence in which He is pleased to walk with us and talk with us.When We Desire Spiritual Blessing And Insight  We should fast when we desire to experience greater spiritual blessing and understanding.  Fasting not only helps us to draw closer to God, develop a consistency in our devotion to Him, and occasionally hear his voice when He speaks to us.  It also helps us grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ whose lives are enriched with an increase of blessing and wisdom.  It aids us in getting to know Jesus better "in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."  (See Colossians 2:3.)

FASTING AND PRAYER – Part 4:  Fasting Brings Divine Rewards  In Jesus’ teaching on fasting, He warned that those who fast openly to draw attention to their piety will get that attention, but it will be the full extent of their reward for fasting.  (See Matthew 6:16.)  On the other hand, those who fast secretly desiring a deeper communion with God will be rewarded openly.   (See verse 17-18.)Jesus did not say just what kind of rewards God would openly bestow upon those who fast in secret.  It is easy to surmise, though, that those who desire God’s favor over the applause of men will be blessed by God in every area of their lives.  And, that will be hard to hide.  When we prosper in our relationships, our labors, our finances, our ministries, and find favor with God and man, we have been rewarded openly.  And, those who humbly fast for God’s kingdom alone can handle such blessings because they will desire only to lead others to the same. Fasting Brings Divine Revelation  We’ve seen that the prophetess Anna and the prophets and teachers in Antioch discovered that a lifestyle of worship and fasting enabled them to hear from God.  In both of those cases, though, it was more of a word of knowledge they received rather than any extensive revelation.  Two other biblical examples, though, demonstrate how fasting was the precursor to extensive revelations of God’s purposes for the nation of Israel and for the world.Moses was fasting in the presence of God for forty days and nights at the time that God entrusted him with the Ten Commandments.  Furthermore, God dictated them to him, and Moses himself wrote the commandments onto tablets of stone.  (See Exodus 34:28.)  This was a supernatural fast in which Moses was sustained with neither food nor water, and the presence of God was so great upon him that his face was radiant with God’s glory when he descended the mountain to return to the camp of Israel.  (See verse 29.)Daniel was concluding a twenty-one day fast (see Daniel 9:3; 10:10-13) when the angel Gabriel came to him in "swift flight" and gave him an extensive revelation of what would happen to the people of Israel from that time all the way through to the end of human history.  (See Daniel 9-12.)  It is significant that Daniel was deeply troubled by the sins of his people and combined his prolong fast with a heartfelt prayer of repentance on behalf of the Jewish exiles with him in Babylon when the angelic visit and extensive revelation occurred.  The point is that Daniel’s heart was so one with God’s that God could trust him with a revelation of such great impact. No doubt every follower of Jesus would say that they desire to be so one with God’s heart that God can trust them with revelation of things to come as He did Daniel.  And, this is the promise of Jesus to those who would follow Him.  He said to His disciples of the Holy Spirit, "he will tell you what is yet to come."  (See John 16:13.)  But if we, like Daniel, are to experience that ministry of the Holy Spirit that shows us things to come, we must have a reason to know.  For Daniel, the reason was informed intercession.  For us, perhaps it is to be both informed intercession and guided evangelism.  The point is, though, our heart must be committed to God’s program if He is to share the program with us.  Fasting and prayer is a key to deepening our commitment to God and His program and receiving revelation of the same. When We Want To Be Equipped And To Equip Others We should fast when we desire to be fully equipped for the ministry God has called us to and to be instrumental in equipping others to fulfill their calling.  For effective ministry, we need not only to be able to hear from God in words or knowledge or extensive revelations of things to come.  We need to be empowered to advance God’s kingdom and destroy the works of the devil in people’s lives.Fasting Empowers Us For Spiritual Warfare  One Scriptural statement of the purpose of Jesus’ ministry reads as follows:  "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work."  (See 1 John 3:8.)  Our ministry as followers of Jesus is not only to advance the kingdom of God but to enforce the destruction of Satan’s kingdom from people’s lives.  This requires not only spiritual revelation but spiritual power. It was after Jesus empowered His disciples to heal the sick and drive out demons (see Matthew 10:1) that they had difficulties delivering a demonized boy from a spirit of infirmity causing seizures that would throw him into fire or water to destroy him.  (See 17:15-16.)  Jesus Himself delivered the boy from the demon of infirmity.  He explained to His disciples, as we saw earlier, that they could not cast this spirit out because of unbelief but would indeed be able to expel such spirits through prayer and fasting combined.  (See verse 21 in the NIV footnote.)  As we’ve seen, fasting debunks that unbelief that hinders our prayer lives and thus re-empowers our prayers.  In doing so, fasting is instrumental in empowering our ministries. Fasting Enables Us In The Ministry Of Impartation  It would be quite self-centered to desire a powerful ministry ourselves but have no interest in helping other believers experience the same.  Our desire should be like that of the Apostle Paul who wrote to the Christians in Rome, "I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong — that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith."  (See Romans 1:11-12.)  Paul wanted to impart spiritual gifts to other believers so that they could all the more powerfully advance God’s kingdom and destroy the works of the devil.Paul understood the ministry of impartation and the role that fasting played in that ministry.  After he and Barnabas had preached in the cities of Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch on their first missionary journey, they returned to those cities to appoint anointed leadership over the churches. We read:  "Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust."  (See Acts 14:23.)  In a sense, one could say that the fasting, prayer, and anointing of the apostles gave these newly appointed leaders a "jump start" for their ministries.  To continue in the same, these leaders would have to prove themselves in fasting, prayer, and servant leadership. To say that fasting and prayer both empower us for ministry and enables us to empower others for ministry through impartation shows yet again how fasting serves as a great leveler.  We are not to build our own ministries but to serve the Body of Christ and evangelize the lost.  Whatever fruitfulness we experience in ministry we should desire to help others experience.  The goal is for the Body of Christ to work together to see God’s kingdom advanced and the powers of darkness dispelled.  The discipline of fasting and prayer helps position us to labor with God toward making that happen.

FASTING AND PRAYER – Part 6:  ConclusionFasting and prayer does not change God.  It changes us.  It is not twisting God’s arm to get Him to do our bidding but rather positioning ourselves to receive the grace He freely gives and to do His bidding.Fasting and prayer combined removes the hindrances to our peace.  It ensures the sincerity of our humility, repentance, and acceptance of pardon so that we no longer feel estranged from God.  It effectively appeals for God’s protection from harm and victory over the enemy of our souls so that we overcome feelings of weakness and vulnerability.  It helps us humble ourselves and lift up others who are oppressed so that we vanquish tensions from our relationships.Fasting and prayer combined also aids us in progressing in our walk with God.  It helps us draw closer to him in consistency of devotion and worship. It brings an increase in spiritual blessing and understanding.  It empowers us for ministry and enables us to effectively impart spiritual gifts and empowerment to others for fruitful ministry in their lives. Fasting is a key to a revitalized prayer life and an empowered ministry.  I pray that God motivates us to make it a regular discipline in our lives and to appeal to Him during times of prayer and fasting to grant each of these benefits that we find ourselves in need of so that we can experience a more fruitful ministry in His service. GIVE YOUR INSIDES A VACATION! – Part 1 (By: Norm Rasmussen) – This writing has to do with your health.       Literally – what you take from it could mean   the difference between you living or dying.  No exaggeration –    it's that important of a topic!   Let's begin:  If you have ever worked at   a stressful, demanding job for any length of time, you understand the need to   have a vacation, don’t you? Any time we do something day in and day out, especially   if it requires a lot of our mental and/or physical energy, and especially if   there is stress involved … we need to give ourselves a vacation.  We all   understand this necessity. God knew that in a seven-day week, we would live much   longer and much happier and be a lot more productive if we took one day off   and rested from our labors – hence the Sabbath day, or one day out of seven to   rest.   Yet here is something many don’t realize.  Internally …   our organs need a VACATION as well   from what they do, minute by minute, day after day, week after week, month   after month, year after year, decade after decade!  Our “organ factory” needs   not only a periodic vacation, but it needs a chance to receive a   THOROUGH CLEANSING –  be MAINTAINED   – be REPAIRED if necessary … so our organ factory can once again operate at peak efficiency. No factory keeps running efficiently without periodic   maintenance.  No car keeps running efficiently without proper maintenance and   upkeep.  As oil needs to be changed regularly in our car due to   impurities and breakdown of it’s lubricating qualities … so does our blood and   organs need a chance to rid themselves of the buildup of toxins and poisons   that can be contaminating them.  No computer keeps running efficiently without proper maintenance.    Sewer and drainpipes need unclogging after a time, as does our internal   circulatory system.   Our immune system is probably the most efficient   fighting machine on the face of this earth, yet it too can begin to weaken   with stress, age and with improper nutrition and the hindering effects of   built-up toxins (poisons, really) that need to be eliminated from our   body.   God knew that we not only need one day a week to rest   from external, or outward, stress of life … we also needed to give our   internal body a periodic break to clean out the buildup of toxins – to let our organs and   immune system have a break so they can rest    and repair if need be   to again work at peek   performance …yet do we give it one?  Most don't.  That’s why He   implemented detoxing/cleansing/repairing … hence our need for giving our   bodies an occasional vacation, more commonly known as fasting in the Bible.  (God   knows our physical health can affect our emotional and spiritual health … big-time!) If you read through the Bible about fasting, you will discover that if a person fasts for spiritual reasons in the   appropriate manner, God promises to somehow reward it.  If you detox/fast for   the purpose of taking care of your physical body … how can you possibly go   wrong then, if you do so wisely?     Yet here is my own personal observation of WHY most   people struggle with fasting.  They somehow think they MUST fast on water only    … giving up all food (and maybe anything they are addicted to) while they are   on the fast.  THAT IS NO SO!       Fasting on water only can be the greatest   detriment there IS to give your body a periodic vacation    starting out with detox/cleansing/repairing   (fasting).    WHY?  Because of the trauma of hunger pangs/food temptations and chemical   addiction withdrawals/temptations (caffeine and sugar are the most common)!  Most   everyone who even thinks about having to go without food for half a   day, or a day, (let alone longer) comes unglued emotionally, and   understandably so.  I’m that way!   The secret to successful detox/cleansing/repairing is  NOT to traumatize yourself unnecessarily!  This needs repeating: The   secret to successful detoxing/cleansing/repairing is NOT to let the   experience overly traumatize you.     Any safe detox/cleansing/repair is better than no detox/cleansing/repair,   when done wisely.  In so doing … you are learning to minimize your   trauma, and you are building a solid foundation of confidence that you can   make it through future detox/cleansing/repairs,   which is so vitally important.      Juice fasting (detoxing) is becoming more and more popular over water only fasting/detoxing for a number of positive reasons.  Punch [Juice fasting] into any of the popular Internet Search Engines and do some research on juice fasting/detoxing.   Following is a video clip that I would encourage everyone reading this view in its entirety:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Psqw6i6ZTs&list=UUczq0lf4nd5GHG-2Pjoz4Vw&index=1    Personally … I truly didn't believe I could go 10 days   without food when I did my first detox (The Master Lemon Cleanse — Google it to learn more about it) in 2005.  I   did make 9 days, and had one orange and one apple during those nine days, not   because I needed them, but because temptation overcame me.    I was so proud of myself!  I did my second Master Lemon Cleanse in April 2006,   and went seven days straight without any food, and I could have   easily gone 10 days had I wanted to.  Already, my confidence is growing   leaps and bounds, and yours can too! You need to be honest with yourself and deal with “the   trauma-factor” wisely.  Saying it another way … you need to control the   intensity of your trauma.  Just because you read a book that says you must go   10 days to get a thorough cleanse/repair (such as The Lemon   Juice Master Cleanse,   which is my favorite detox/cleanse/repair incorporated at times with other   fresh juices) doesn’t mean you have to try to make it 10 days the first time   you try!  For goodness sake … doesn’t the authors of those books or tapes   realize how difficult it is for beginners to have to deal with the threat of   going without their favorite food or beverage?!  Why put oneself through so   much emotional and physical trauma?  Why not use a sensible detox/cleanse/repair   strategy and try it for just one meal starting out?  Then when the time is   right, try for a couple of meals, and then maybe a whole day?  (Again: This is   predicated on the assumption that you are not diagnosed with advanced cancer   and/or a terminal disease.  If this is the case, you may have to get very   intense quickly with your detox/cleansing/repair … simply to save your   life!)   It is always wise to inform your understanding doctor of   the kind of detox/cleanse you are going on, and how long.  It is also   wise to connect with trusted people who will keep you lifted up in prayer   while you are on a detox/cleanse, especially if it is a longer one.   Let’s get sensible with this.  Every time you make it a   meal or two, or a whole day without your favorite food and drink, and take in   healthy concentrated nutrition (fresh vegetable and fruit juices and lots of   pure water to flush out your body) … that is a “confidence brick” you can put   in your “detox/cleanse confidence foundation.”  The more times you can   miss a meal(s) of stuff you body could use a break from and put into your body   things that will help it detox/cleanse/repair itself with … your confidence   grows that most likely you CAN do this longer the next time, and/or do it more   frequently!   I've personally set a goal that I'm going to do a   thorough cleanse at least once every six months simply as preventive   maintence.  I'll go on one more often if I need to.  Sometimes only   a day or two detox/vacation/fast is needed to get desired results from simple   illnesses.   Many who detox/cleanse find friends they can do it   together with.  Knowing someone else who is going through what you may be   going through helps tremendously, and you can encourage one another!   As the saying goes, “Know how to remove a mountain and   cast it into the sea, if you don’t have enough faith to do so in one setting?    One shovel full at a time.  Tomorrow … maybe two shovel fulls … but today,   just one.”

  • ChristianMessages says:

GIVE YOUR INSIDES A VACATION – Part 2:  OUTSMART THE TRAUMA MONSTER Do yourself a huge favor: learn how to grow into being   able to go on   extended, sensible detox/cleanses for the future.  Don’t traumatize yourself the first   few times you go on one.  If you   do, you may talk yourself into never going on another one again!    Modify your cleanses as you need to.  Take what you need to keep going.  Reward   yourself if you have to.  I do!  Don't beat up on yourself for   blowing it.  There is always a new day.  Let your hunger pang trauma be in little “bites” – little    “portions.”  You might not be able to lift 100 pounds right now … but the more   you lift each day, day after day, the more your confidence grows that one day   you’ll be able to lift that 100 pounds if there is something worthwhile to   gain from it, and with wise detox/cleansing/repairing … there is!         The painful affects and memories from  Food Abstinence Trauma – Chemical Addiction Withdrawals –   Purging/Cleansing Pain Trauma … when you go through a detox/cleanse   should never be minimized and   the long range effects it can have on a person emotionally regarding future   detoxification – cleansing – rebuilding should never be underestimated, nor   trivialized.   Some people are so filled with toxic poisons that   when the body starts expelling them, they can go through a great deal of pain,   until they are expelled.  What may seem not so painful during a cleanse   can grow into a mountain inside your mind months from now if you   are not careful.  Pain truly is gain when you are expelling   unwanted toxic poisons from your body.  Just be careful to keep it a   positive experience rather than let it become a traumatic experience, is all   I'm trying to suggest.  Cleansing/Fasting should never be a painful   memory … it should be a positive memory.  You are in the driver's seat   as to what that memory will be as days go by after a healing cleanse.   Your primary objective starting   out is to hammer away at dethroning the fear that you won’t be able to   cope with life the more times you do a detox/cleanse in the future.  The goal   is to not fear detox/cleansing/fasting, but to ease into it at a pace that   minimizes your trauma.  Fasting   is a potent weapon!  You want it to become a lethal weapon in your spiritual   arsenal in the future you can use when necessary — not a falsely perceived,   self-destructive weapon you are tempted to leave out of your arrow quiver   because of fear or past trauma.  Make sense?   Detox/cleansing/fasting is not a race to see who can get to the   end the fastest – it is a life-long marathon.  You run a marathon at a pace you   can handle – not at the pace someone else is able to run it. I like to think of life as having a bow and a quiver to   put one’s arrows in.  The more useful arrows you have in your quiver, odds are   that you will will be more effective whipping your enemy.  However, in MY   arrow quiver, I have the ability to never run out of the specific kind of   arrow that I need at the time.  My detox/cleansing arrow is there to shoot at   sickness and disease prevention.  If I’m already sick and/or   diseased, it is an arrow I use to help eradicate the sickness and/or   disease.  Either way, it is a very potent weapon.   Will I listen to the advice of doctors in the process?    Absolutely.  But I’ll also listen to the advice of God.  God has the first say   for me, and the last say.  God knows what is best for me at any given time,   and though others may “think” they know what is best for me … I’ll take God’s   advice over theirs, no offense, if there is differing counsel.  To me,   doctors and the medical profession are instruments of God – NOT God.     Many people do not have this particular arrow in their   survival quiver, therefore they aren’t able to hear God telling them to use   this “medicine” if He is saying to do so in some capacity.  The ONLY arrow   they have for sickness and disease is the established medical profession.    Would it surprise you at all to realize that some in the established medical   profession and the drug industry would prefer that you NEVER use the arrow of   detox/cleansing to deal with sickness and disease?  Would it also come as any   surprise that "arrogance addiction" or “$$$$ addiction” may be the real reason(s)?  Shame on me for even   thinking of such a thing!       CONCENTRATED NUTRITION "MEDICINE" Detoxing – cleansing with fresh vegetable and fruit   juices with plenty of pure water not only provides the necessary nutrition and   energy your body needs to function properly on – they also provide in   mega-dose concentrated form the very ingredients your body needs to both   cleanse and repair itself!  And best of all … some of them actually help curb   hunger pangs/food temptations!   Fresh squeezed lemon juice with a   natural sweetener does for many.  It has for me.  Fresh squeezed   carrot juice also works very well, or a combination of fresh lemon juice and   fresh carrot juice.  Other fresh fruit and vegetable juices also are very good sources   for curbing hunger pangs/food temptations and keeping one's energy level up as   well as providing proper nutrition. “The Food and Drink Abstinence Monster” has a mind of its   own!  If you’re like me … thinking about having to give up my eggs, toast and   cereal in the morning, even for a day, makes me want to eat twice as much!    Thinking that I can’t have my coffee or my pop or my chips or my candy bar or   my ice cream throws me into depression-agitation immediately.  High-level   agitation becomes almost unbearable for many to think of going a day without a   coke, a beer, or a glass of something stronger.  The “Abstinence Monster” is   very content to lie dormant in our mind …until there’s a threat that it can’t   have what it wants – when it wants it – how much it wants   of it.   Stress of all kinds is on the increase.  Turbulence and   uncertainty around the world – financial stress – marital stress – family   stress – work stress – the stress of sleeplessness and physical pain … the   list goes on and on.  Think about it:  What is the ONE THING we are able to   control in our stressful life?  What we put into our “factory” to maintain   it’s emotional state of well-being, correct?   Why will a child eat all the candy you give him/her?    Because it triggers emotional well-being in their mind.  Why will a   potato-chip junkie never tire of munching constantly on potato-chips?     “Because they taste good!”  Not very complicated, is it?    What tastes good to us brings emotional well-being to our mind.  One   person’s poison is another person’s love.  We all acquire a love for   certain foods and drinks, and   that is just living.  Yet how many of us really care what might be   happening by what we are putting into our human factory?  Could what we   are putting into our factory be contributing to an excess of toxins and organ   breakdown?  “I’ll take my chances.  Life is tough so I want what I   want.  I need what I need.”  I’ve thought that numerous times, so I can well identify.   Any wise doctor will tell us that just because we love   that salt on our chips, or the release of stress beer after beer gives us, for   example … doesn’t necessarily mean it will keep us healthy all the rest of our   lives.  If we put drain cleaner in our car motor, our motor just isn’t going   to operate very efficiently, is it?  If we drink gasoline instead of water, it   doesn’t mean we’ll have more energy to run faster, does it?   How about just a   little drop or two of gasoline in every glass of water we drink?  That’s not   so bad, someone may suggest to us.  Uhhhhhhhhhhh … gasoline is for mechanical   engines, not our human engines.   Pure vegetable and fruit juices won’t help your car run   better, but multitudes have discovered that there is absolutely nothing better   to keep your human factory running at peak performance than raw vegetables and fruit.    Extract the juice from vegetables and fruit and you have potent concentrates   of the kind of ammunition your body needs to fight the war it fights day in   and day out to keep you not only healthy, but able to ward numerous sicknesses   and/or diseases. (And to help get rid of sicknesses and/diseases if we already   are afflicted with them, of course).   Most people don’t easily get “addicted” to a steady diet   of fresh vegetable or fruit juices, but what harm can there possibly be in   giving our human factory a periodic break – a periodic vacation to rest up and   repair itself?

GIVE YOUR INSIDES A VACATION – Part 3:  WHICH IS WISER? Which is wiser?  Doing a   periodic detoxification cleanse WISELY (not severely traumatizing yourself, in   other words) to KEEP from getting sick and diseased … or trying to GET HEALED   once you have become sick and diseased?  Which is wiser?  Change the oil in your car frequently as   recommended, or run on dirty oil for thousands and thousands of miles and   risking the life of your motor?  If you listen to your heart, you know the answer. Please do yourself a huge favor.  Study up on detox/cleansing.    Keep an open mind.  Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.    Many people writing or speaking about the topic have something to sell you.    Don’t let the “$$$$$ Factor” keep you from tucking away the wisdom and   knowledge such voices can impart to you.     Finally … please don’t anyone assume I’m minimizing the   value of water fasting only.  Such detox/cleansing/fasting can produce   excellent results, both physically and spiritually, for those God leads to   cleanse that way.  The reality is, most can’t handle such an intense detox/cleanse/fast   starting out.  Also, many are   discovering that because of the poor nutrition and poisons we are putting into   our bodies over time, it is actually wiser for the first several detox/cleanses   to take vegetable and fruit juices and plenty of water to provide the missing   nutrition they provide, while flushing out toxins, rather than start out on   water detoxing only.     Again, I plug The Master Lemon Cleanse,   or slight variations of it, because it has been around for 50 some years, and   it has stood the test of time for it's effectiveness by numerous people.          GIVE YOUR BODY A PERIODIC VACATION TO   REPAIR ITSELF Forgive me for continually repeating myself, but marketing   professionals realize that a person needs to hear the same message over and   over before they will respond to it.  That's my reason for repeating   myself.     So – give your body a periodic detox/cleanse vacation to repair itself.    Wise prevention is a better way to go   through life than trying to fix something once it’s broken and needs to be   repaired or   replaced.  Mechanical parts can be replaced. Human body parts aren’t so easily   replaced, especially if they’ve been put out of commission by cancer and/or   deadly viruses, because many types of cancer and/or viruses has already spread   to different parts of the body factory by the time it’s discovered, which can then   be too late. Truly said … an ounce   of prevention can be worth a LIFETIME of cure. Allow me to close this out with an awesome note of encouragement.  The Holy Spirit records for us in Matthew 6:16-18 that if we fast with the right reasons – right motives – we have the absolute assurance that our heavenly Father will somehow bless us for it.   Rather than focus unduly on any "painful" thoughts fasting might bring … why not concentrate our focus on the REWARD we are promised God will shower us with?   The way I see this promise … either we're being lied to, or we aren't in Matt. 6:16-18.  I chose to believe I'll somehow at sometime be rewarded! This video is an ABSOLUTE MUCH WATCH for Christians wanting to get healthy and stay healthy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DR2FYWkr2c  Though I don't necessarily endorse the assumption behind the title of this video … and I would have liked him to speak more about quality juicing/detoxing … this video has priceless nuggets of insight and wisdom for the discerning:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgbdNNfotwM

Our fasting has nothing to do with the angels. We don't empower them by fasting. Daniel fasted, God saw that he was really serious/persistent and God sent help. Since Michael was stronger, Gabriel has the chance to leave the fight and visit Daniel. Also, the bible says "when" you fast, not if. That sounds very much like a command. In God's word, it's Do this, or Do Not do this.. There's nowhere He said, Do this if you want to. We have free will, but if we don't follow his precepts, there are certain things we will never get until we follow his spiritual laws.
