I had high bp till I retired fifteen years ago now I take meds because its to low.
I eat ground flaxseeds every day , 2 tablespoons for years But my blood pressure is still high and I have to take meds😐
For those of you thinking he recommended a certain amount a day on this particular video, he didn't. It's in his Daily Dozen which is only 1 tablespoon.

My thoughts, however, is you don't rely upon a singular means to lower blood pressure or lower cholesterol or whatever ails you, it's the totality of all that you do. All your foods, inclusion of exercise, proper sleep, hydration, and attention to your mental health be that through meditation, spiritual connections, and/or social interactions. Healthy people have an overall healthy life and that goes beyond just what you put in your mouth.

SO flaxseed have these benefits also combining them to an omnivorous diet or must be strict plant based to achieve those results?
You have to chew them very well because if you swallow them whole the nutrients will not be absorbed, right ?

I like the new presentation style. Much easier to watch. Most of the nutritionfacts.org videos feel like college lectures where you can't take notes fast enough. They just give me the same feeling – that feeling where you're getting behind and you just can't catch up. Do I have to mention I hated that feeling?

This is fantastic. Our family can attest to this as we have members that USED to be on BP meds, but now enjoy flaxseed with all its side affects like happiness and quality of life. Also, just an observation, that all healthy roads lead to FIBER. God I love Fiber!
The new format is sooooo distracting. Please stop it, and just go back to the original format of presenting the data. I had to rewind this a couple of times as I was so distracted by the hand movements, etc. Love Dr. Greger—can’t stand this new format.

How to eat flax seeds?
Including Greger himself in video is distracting, already too many stats and charts to focus on in his videos. Go back to just stats and charts.
I have a blueberry smoothie every morning. I was adding a spoon of ground flax to it every night and would drink it in the morning. I began having digestive problems over several months and felt tired. I stopped the flax and have felt better. I still recommend the dried blueberries though and thank Dr Greger for his information on them in the past.

Hard to pay attention to the science with Dr. Greger standing in front blabbing away. This new format is lousy. Plus the poor guy has been so coached to over-gesticulate for the sake of getting an audience that now he can't help himself, even though he has risen to a point that less drama would actually be more convincing for a larger more conservative audience.
So, is it better to grind them yourself? Do you get more nutrients from freshly ground flaxseeds, or does pre-ground flaxseeds have the same nutrient content?
What about the oxidation of the omega 3 in heating?
The reason why flaxseed works is that it is a significant source of anti-inflammatory Omega 3 fat. The Flax seed should be ground so it is absorbed. Omega 6 fats are inflammatory.

Is there any difference between eating the ground flaxseed raw vs cooked? I add a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds to my oatmeal every morning just a couple minutes before it's done cooking. Would I be better off adding it raw?
you don't need anti inflammatory seeds if you don't eat inflammatory plants to begin with.

I eat ground up flax seeds from my coffee grinder with oatmeal, and it tastes better up to a point … about 1 tablespoon. I actually prefer it with the flax than without. So, my question is what can you eat that has that much flax in it? If I put more than about 1.5 tablespoons of ground flax in my oatmeal, it starts to taste not so good.
Can anyone down a whole giant muffin with multiple tablespoons of ground flax seeds in them without massive sugar and flavoring? Isn't that just as bad? What simple recipe or food product can I find to eat that will give me the amount of flax seeds I need to have these healthy effects?

Dr Gregor! Your video production is so good. I not only love your content, but the way you present it is so appealing. I've often been inspired by how you highlight and animate the studies. I've tried to replicate it on my videos using keynote for these animations. But your green screen and movement now takes it to a new level. You've not only mastered your medical craft, but also your production craft. Thank you for doing what you do. Both in nutrition, and in content creation.
I don’t like Dr Gregger being physically in the video. It is just distracting and one cannot properly read the scientific paper, which is the most important part. Having Dr Gregor audio suffice.

Dr. Greger I am an 81 year old male, the number one item on my bucket list is to get healthy before I die. Last January I was taking 13 different meds in the morning and about 6 meds at night 365 days a year.I don't take any now. My maximum weight was 333 lbs. I now weight about 220 lbs.I still have about 60 lbs of fat to loose. I consider losing the weight less important than getting rid of the meds. A few years ago I went to a lecture on the China study at Loma Linda University which started me on my journey to get seriously healthy. I had tried all kinds of programs, pills, products, and potions but it wasn't until last January that I discovered a way traverse chronic health issues. I adopted a Whole Food Plant Based Lifestyle. Eliminating all dairy, meat, salt sugar and oil 99% of the time. I haven't got to 100% yet but I've come a long way from the China Study lecture. Here is my problem, I can't get enough sleep. I have to pee about six times a night. Can you help me and others who may have the same problem?
