Basic Haircare & Hairstyles : What’s the Best Shampoo for a Dry Scalp?

Hi. I’m Amelia. And I’m going to talk to you
about the best shampoo for a dry scalp. First, let me talk about some reasons why you would
get a dry scalp. Scalps dry out, they tend to dry out most during the winter, because
your environment is a lot drier. And most people think a dry scalp is actually dandruff,
and that’s not true. You would really know dandruff when you saw it, because it’s long
strips of waxy skin that sort of peels off your scalp. You know it if you’ve got dandruff.
And that tends to be fungal. So if you do have dandruff, you need to go to your dermatologist.
A dry scalp can actually be solved pretty much the same way as dandruff. If you use
like a Head and Shoulders or any type of scalp-relieving shampoo, anything with tea tree, some cooling
mints. Biolage has got a great one. Paul Mitchell is famous for his. And Head and Shoulders
works great. Any of those things can work for a dry scalp. If your scalp is extremely
dry, you can use an oil. And scalp oils, you would just comb through the hair. And when
the hair is dry, you would apply the oil in sections to the hair. So you would apply it,
comb the next piece of hair over and apply it, and then you would just massage it in
and probably leave it in for about 20, 30 minutes. But those are some ways that you
can get rid of your dry scalp. Head and Shoulders. If it’s really bad, a scalp oil. And just
massaging your conditioner into your scalp. All of those things will take care of a dry
scalp.
